My Favorite Room

Kelly over at Kellys Korner has the neatest blog going on. She has asked that everyone blog about their favorite room. I am choosing our living room/dining room for two reasons. Number one it is always clean because we never use that part of the house and number two is that I love the color combo. I love colors that pop and these colors do pop. However, my camera is acting crazy so the pics seem a little fuzzy. And the color of the walls are really a nice shade of green and they look goldish in these shots. Oh well, here goes. Oh and by the way this first picture was suppose to be the very last one. I have blonde hair, can you tell. HA!! When I was younger I did not like antiques at all! Now I love them. So I found our dining room table and chair for sale in the Arkansas Democrat a few years ago. When we picked it up the people we bought it from had stored it in a barn and it was yucky. We had it restored and it actually has three leafs and makes into a huge table for the holiday's. I purchased the china cabinet from an estate sale.

This picture is looking from our kitchen into the living room.

The angle is shot from the front door looking toward the kitchen.

I love these poppy prints. Sorry about the glare.

Our armoire is one of my favorite pieces.

One of Alvins employees was throwing these nesting tables away and we had them restored.

This is probably my favorite piece of furniture and I love the print.

And of course I love this wall with the grands.

Well thats about it. Any suggestions on window treatments? Now it's your turn to join the fun and show us your favorite room.

P.S. I added the first picture this morning. I just was not happy with how fuzzy the ones from yesterday were. I need to take lessons on using this camera. HA!!! Have a GREAT weekend everyone!

"I'm Going To Hollywood"

The arrival of "Mimster"
Cort singing "Copacabana"

"Yumm-o"

The coveted "gumball" machines

I went to Little Rock yesterday to see Cortney and the boys. Oh how those little fellows can make my heart go pitter patter. I'm pretty sure if you were to take my blood pressure before I get to their house it would be off the charts. I literally get dizzy, the palm of my hands start sweating, and I start driving a little faster the closer I get. To say the least "we had a blast" as always. As soon as I got there we had to have a little snack of course and the boys had to show Mimi their new "Indiana Jones" whips. They are completely harmless, they play the theme to "Indiana Jones" and make a "whip sound." And yes, I did have to try them out! After playing for awhile Cort gets their new "American Idol" game for their Wii out and oh my gosh was it fun!!! After singing, Copacabana, Heart of Glass, and countless more songs, Reid gave Mimi a ticket that said "you're going to Hollywood. YEA!!!! Finally, it's out the door to "Steinmart" and "Chick-fila. After eating lunch, it's off to the American Cookie Co. and gumball machines. Then its back to Cortneys' and time for naps. Thank you God for those precious babies.

Dinner Dates

Last week was a fun filled week of eating dinner with family and friends. I was driving home from Little Rock one evening last week. Alvin called and told me he was grilling (yummy, Alvin is such a good cook) and momma and Aunt Lucy were coming over to join us. It is always fun when we can get together with the two of them. They have so many fun stories to tell. A couple of days earlier I met Marilou (a flight attendant friend) for dinner at the hotel where I stay when I am in Dallas. Marilou and I have so much in common. First and foremost we both have two grandbabies each and we both have another on the way. And last but certainly not least. I was suprised to find out that my friend Tara had an LA overnight last Saturday night so of course we had to have dinner together. We were laughing and saying that 10 years ago we would have never dreamed we would have been having dinner together in Los Angelos.

Our "Refuge"

One of my favorite containers

Our safe haven

Back flowerbed

Tiki Hut (Can you tell I love Angels)

Our pond with two new baby fish

New flowerbed

Alvin and I love springtime!! It is our favorite time of the year. We practically live in our backyard. We usually eat breakfast, lunch and dinner outside. However, it takes a long, long time to get the yard prepped for the spring and summer. We try to get finished with all the work by the end of April so we can start enjoying. However, it has rained so much this year that we just finished today. YEA!
Prepping always includes mulching, weeding, buying flowers for containers, cleaning the pond and the lawn furniture and we usually add something new each year. Last year Alvin built the Tiki Hut. This year he laid more brick for another sitting area and I made a new flower bed.

It's finally time to sit back, turn Jimmy Buffett on the CD player, fire up the grill, invite over friends and enjoy. Ahh!

Ingredients for the perfect vacation.....

Ingredients as follows:

Blue Water
Lots of blue water

Add Sand
Sprinkle in a few seagulls
Shake in the one you love and a good lookin kite

A couple of weeks ago Alvin and I went to Gulf Shore for a few days. After flying all the time we decided to help the economy out and drive!! I know, I know what were we thinking. Hey, gas was cheap then. We paid $3.52 a gallon, I noticed today it was $3.68!

We drove to Canton MS and spent the first night with my sister, Susie and her husband David (thanks sis for letting us crash with you guys). The next morning we continued our road trip on to Gulf Shores. We had the most wonderful, restful week.
