Silver Wings

I took this picture yesterday on our final descent into Dallas. Who would have thought when we landed there would have been ice all over the tree limbs and ground.

These big ole silver wings brought me home today since I couldn't make it in yesterday from my two day trip because of the freezing rain in Newport. Hey....but it was ok, because my sweet Casey flew into Dallas yesterday to start a three day trip today, so I spent the night with her. We got to the hotel (brrrrrr it was cold in Dallas with freezing rain as well) around 5:00 jumped in our jammies, fixed us a sandwich out of our food bags, made us a cup of hot tea, visited alittle bit and watched the "Bachelor".

I hopped on the 9:30 flight to Little Rock this morning and my sweet Cortney picked me up and I got to love on those babies all day. Finally, Alvin picked me up in Little Rock this evening and I am FINALLY home. YEA!!!! I was supposed to go back to work this Sunday, but someone picked up my reserve days and I am off another twelve days (unless I pick something up).

Anyhoo, Cindy Lou and I are off to Lucky's in the morning at 7:30......sure hope we get Lucky! I'll let you gals know.

Just another day in paradise

After not working for fifty-seven days.......the vacation is OVER!!!!! Or is it? I picked up a two day trip out of Houston that started Sunday. Alvin flew to Houston with me Saturday afternoon, spent the night with me and I worked his flight back to Dallas Sunday morning. After five legs of up and down all day in Texas I ended my day in Corpus Christi.

After five legs of one hour flights.....this is a welcome sight. Aaaah......paradise!
There's nothing like a long day and then a nice long, hot bubble bath.....of course with the wonderful shampoo the hotel has provided........aaaaaah paradise!

When this is the view from your hotel room and you can sit back with the nice cozy robe the hotel has provided with a cup of hot tea in your hand..........aaaaah paradise!
And then reality sets in..........4:00 A.M. WAKE UP CALL!!!! YIKES!
Hour fifty ground time in Houston.......Boo!
Two cancelled flights....Yeah! (still get paid)
Now more ground time in Houston......Oh well, now I can sit down and eat lunch instead of standing up eating over the trash can in the galley!
I have to fly to Dallas to catch my flight home to Little Rock......freezing rain in both cities.....boo!

But still.......another day in paradise!

Happy Anniversary Cortney and Ryan

It's hard to believe our oldest daughter, Cortney and son-in-law Ryan have been married twelve years today. Happy Anniversary guys!!!!

It seems like yesterday Cortney and Ryan had their first date. Growing up Cortney was always soooooo picky about boys. Everytime a boy would ask her to "go out" (that was called going steady in my day) she would always say, "but we're to good of friends". Finally one day her dad and I sat down with her and explained......."Cortney you are not going to find a guy with the perfect haircut........perfect grades......perfect clothes....who is the perfect Christian..... etc." Well the little stinker made liars out of both of us. Ryan was perfect........perfect for our Cortney. And from the perfect couple came three perfect grands!!

Hope your day is special in every way!!!

What does your lipstick say

If I were on a deserted island .........the one thing I would have to have would be my lipstick. I guess it's do to the fact that I'm a southern girl and us southern girls NEVER EVER leave home without our lipstick! Can I get an amen!

I've always heard that the shape of your lipstick can say alot about your character.......so I thought it would be fun to hear what shape lipsticks all my bloggy friends have. Are ya ready girls.........SHOW US YOUR LIPSTICK!!!!!! (click on the following pic to enlarge)

Of course, I'll go first. I know, I know........I'm the weird one! But whatcha gonna do! I've tried and tried to make it a different shape. I have cut it straight across, wasted half a tube doing this many times and it still always ends up in this weird shape. However, when I read the above description it pretty much fits my personality to a "T". I'm curious to see if anyone out in bloggylands lipstick is shaped like mine......please tell me I'm not the only one!!!

By the way......do you think Angelina Jolie has one of these stencils!

Eat your peas!

Just a little tidbit of New Year's trivia "Southern" style.

There is a Southern saying that dictates eating habits in the Southern United States' New Year's: "Eat poor on New Year's, eat fat the rest of the year." A traditional Southern New Year's meal includes ham, corn bread, black-eyed peas and collard greens. Both black-eyed peas and collard greens are especially lucky additions to the dinner table. Black-eyed peas are thought to bring wealth because they look like little coins, in addition to the fact that they swell when cooked -- a sure sign of prosperity. Collard greens are lucky because they are green, like greenbacks -- money!

So be sure and eat your black-eyed peas today! As matter of fact my momma is in the kitchen making cornbread and fried cabbage. Can you say "YUMMO"!!!

Happy New Year everyone!!
