Flight Attendant Friday

Ok, let's talk briefly about training. As I stated a couple of weeks ago training was tough. It's probably one of the hardest things I've ever been through in my life. It's intense, but at the same time fun and very interesting.

The title flight attendant or stewardess as I call myself (I think it's a funny word) comes with GREAT responsibilities. During the 3 1/2 week training we learn how to evacuate an airplane in 90 seconds or less, emergency equipment, where's it's located and the operation of each piece. We also learn about CPR, first aid, security, hazmat and customer care.

Janet and yours truly

Janet was my best friend in training and we were inseparable. We studied together from sun up to sun down. We laughed together and cried together. You don't get much sleep.....maybe four hours a night. I truly don't know if I could have made it through without her.

This is Poole. Poole is a full size fuselage of a Boeing 737. We did our unplanned emergencies on Poole and we also got to slide down the slide which was way too much fun!

We had to practice setting our trays up. We don't use carts (thank goodness).

The best thing about training was my beautiful daughter Casey pinning my wings.

Thanks baby girl!

Until next week.......stay safe in your travels.

I found the beauty a little late

Guess where I've been! Do you give up? If you guessed in the dark.......you are right!!! And I didn't like it, not even one little bit. Sis, I found absolutely no beauty there. I guess I should tell you if you missed yesterdays post you should probably stop right here and read it or this will make no since. We lost power yesterday afternoon around 4:00.

The first thing I want you to do with these first two pictures is enlarge them and go back to yesterdays post and enlarge the first two pictures and compare the difference. OH MY WORD!!!! I couldn't even believe it myself. The news said this was the worst ice storm since 1932! Ok, let's go find the beauty..........

Above Picture: Hard to believe this is the same picture I took yesterday morning. Remember I was trying to find the beauty in it........well as I look back today on the picture I took yesterday, yesterdays picture truly was beautiful and I didn't even realize it until today. This makes me a little sad.

Picture below: Remember how full this tree was in yesterday's picture. Yeah it was beautiful yesterday too, but again I didn't realize it until today.

There's one of my garden angels.....bless her heart I'm just glad she survived this big ole limb!

This is one shot of the back of our house and another garden angel still in tact.

Here's some of today's beauty. The sun was amazing today!

More beauty.......Farmers Electric. Thanks guys, you're the best!

Our neighbors flag even survived the war zone!

This is the best beauty of them all.
(Lights on)

All in all we're safe, we're warm, the electricity is on and the poppy seed chicken is in the oven......now that's beautiful!

I hope everyone has a wonderful night and I truly hope you all found some beauty in your lives today.

Trying to find the beauty

They said it would come.......and it did! Our annual ICE STORM arrived during the wee hours of the morning.

My sister and I recently had a conversation about not liking winter.......AT ALL! So now she is trying to find the beauty in all things winter. Well, sissy.......if you are reading my blog today I hope you are enjoying your abundant sunshine and your 70 degree weather while I am sitting HERE trying to find the beauty. Let's see......the beauty of this big ole tree is .........no branches broke off and poked my eye out while I was taking this picture.

The beauty here is........I didn't fall and crack my skull open while running from a falling branch which landed on top of our house. WHEW! That was a close one!
It won't be long until this Crepe Myrtle will have big ole pink blooms.
Now she's a beauty.

I found it! The beauty today.......a hot cup of cocoa, a warm fire, a laptop computer and warm flannel jammies. Aaaaah!

And he has no clue! Other than BEAUTY sleep. HA!

So what beauty have you girls found today.

By the way, it sounds like a war zone outside. The branches are breaking right and left and hitting the top of our house and our lights are blinking on and off. So if you don't hear from me for a couple of days it's because I'm trying to find the beauty......... in the dark!

This post brought to you by the letter "J"

Faith was participating in a fun tag a few days ago, where you are assigned a letter of the alphabet and had to come up with things that you love that starts with the letter you were assigned. I decided to play so Faith assigned me the letter "J". At first I wasn't sure I could come up with any.......other than Jesus, of course that was the first thing that came to mind. Anywho, once I started thinking about it, I has soooooo many I had to eliminate a few so I wouldn't run you guys off. HA!!
This really has been fun, so if you want to play let me know and I will assign you a letter.

Jesus
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, for whosoever believeth in him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

Jammies
There's nothing better than coming home from a long day at work and sliding into these babies! Can I get an amen!

Jets
Oh mercy, there's nothing more exhilarating than blasting thru the air at 560 miles per hour in an aluminum tube! WOO HOO!

Jeans
Jeans, jeans, jeans, you can NEVER have too many pair. I like low riders just like these because they make these short legs of mine look a little longer.

Jelly Beans
I LOVE Gourmet Jelly Beans! My favorite flavor.....grapefruit.

Junk Food

I'm reeeeeeeally trying hard not to participate in my addiction to junk food this year! It sure is hard tough!

Jimmy Buffet
Aaaaah sukie.......I LOVE me some Jimmy! He is playing at all times on our outdoor CD player. If we are outside grilling, weeding or just relaxing, Jimmy is right there with us.

June & July

Can I get another amen! I am one happy camper during these months!

Flight Attendant Friday

I cannot believe another Friday has rolled around and it's time for "Flight Attendant Friday" again. I hope you're not to disappointed.......I've had a really bad last 24 hours. I flew to Dallas Tuesday afternoon because I had recurrent training on Wednesday. All went really well. Recurrent was good. I was able to catch the 3:15 p.m. flight back to Little Rock and I arrived at home about 6:00. My hero had a WONDERFUL dinner prepared for me and all was well.......until I turned my computer on. GROWL!!!! There were lines and stripes all over my screen. I nearly went into a tail spin. I called Best Buy and they say it sounds like my LCD screen was going out. OK, how much! Probably $500. WHAT!!!! No way.....oh yes, way!

Anywoo......guess who has a new computer tonight. Long story short.......I travel with my computer everytime I work. It makes me feel connected to home and I NEVER, EVER let it out of my sight. I carry it in a padded bag inside another bag with a shoulder strap and I never let the shuttle driver put in back with crew luggage, it always rides up front with me and I also never put it in the overhead bin. I always put it in the flight attendant storage when I'm on the plane.

WELL, yesterday I was in a tiz and stuck it in my roller bag, yep I did it and a sweet pilot offered to place my luggage up in the overhead bin and yep I let him! Well, you know the rest. It's history, broken beyond repair......my mistake and sometimes mistakes are costly. So after a quick trip to Little Rock and $800 poorer here I am again with a NEW computer that will NEVER be touched by another soul other than me! LOL!

OK, now that I have that off my chest. I was going to talk about training this week, however, it's getting late so I thought I would leave you with one of the perks of my job.........

My neice Cindy, Taylor Swift & me

Ya never know who ya might run into. And let me tell you she is a DOLL!!! This was taken about 2 years ago. We picked Taylor up in Nashville and took her to Baltimore where she was opening I believe in Pennsylvania the next night for George Strait. She's come along way since then, hasn't she?
Until next week..........stay safe in your travels!

What I'm enjoying today

It may only be 30 degrees here today.......but I sure am enjoying the sunshine!

However......I'm still missing the warmth of the sun that brings the beautiful spring flowers.
How about you. What are you enjoying today?

I'm a little irritated

Could someone please explain to me why people in our country are willing to pay $150 million for this............

When this little fellow will go to bed hungry tonight!

I DON'T GET IT!

I'm just a little irritated after reading how much was going to be spent on this Inauguration.

A reminder

Yesterday morning we woke up to a temperature of 11 degrees.......wind chill minus 1. Brrrrrrrr! Alvin told me to go out and look at the pond. After seeing it, I thought hey there's something to blog about (I'm desperate here, ok).

Poor little fishies. I'm sure glad they can survive in this yucky weather. As for me......I can't stand it or winter or snow or ice or anything under 78 degrees. Alvin just noticed the ice in the pond is shaped like a heart! Aaaaaaah!

I keep reminding myself that before long this is what the pond will look like.......

And this is what the backyard will look like.

I CAN'T WAIT!!

How about you guys. Do you like cold or warm weather?
