I'm a little irritated

Could someone please explain to me why people in our country are willing to pay $150 million for this............

When this little fellow will go to bed hungry tonight!

I DON'T GET IT!

I'm just a little irritated after reading how much was going to be spent on this Inauguration.

A reminder

Yesterday morning we woke up to a temperature of 11 degrees.......wind chill minus 1. Brrrrrrrr! Alvin told me to go out and look at the pond. After seeing it, I thought hey there's something to blog about (I'm desperate here, ok).

Poor little fishies. I'm sure glad they can survive in this yucky weather. As for me......I can't stand it or winter or snow or ice or anything under 78 degrees. Alvin just noticed the ice in the pond is shaped like a heart! Aaaaaaah!

I keep reminding myself that before long this is what the pond will look like.......

And this is what the backyard will look like.

I CAN'T WAIT!!

How about you guys. Do you like cold or warm weather?

Please Pray for Harper

Please pray for Kelly and her sweet baby Harper who was born this evening. Harper has been flown to Arkansas Children's Hospital due to complications.

Flight Attendant Friday

Hi everyone! As I start my "Flight Attendant Friday" there are a couple things I want you guys to know:

1. If you ever want to ask me a question about my job, please feel free.

2. I am from the south and I speak and write like I'm from the south. I know how to speak correctly, but I like the humor in the way us southerns can throw things out there. So occasionally I'll be speaking southern as I'm telling stories.

3. I don't want you guys to EVER think I am bragging about my job. Because I love it so.....it may appear that I am bragging. I do brag about my company, it's a WONDERFUL company and I am BLESSED to be able to have such a wonderful job!

This afternoon I was thinking about how to start and I think I'll just start at the beginning. Now just so you know, I'm a hopper........yes, I hop from one subject to another so please bear with me. I maybe talking about safety one week and hop on over to celebrities the next week.

I turned 50, became a Mimi and was accepted to flight attendant training all in 2003. What's so strange about the flight attendant training part is that I was TERRIFIED to fly!! I MEAN TERRIFIED!!! You don't believe me do you? When I was accepted I wasn't even sure I could do it. I had flown several times before I went off to training but ONLY under DURESS!!!! Poor Alvin, bless his heart, when we would fly somewhere he would look out the window and try to get me to look out......NO WAY, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Everytime a bell would ding, I thought for sure we were going down! I know, I know.......pyscho girl here!

Off to training I go. Our training is three and a half weeks and held in Dallas. It's all paid for, except for dinner! We were also paid for training once we graduated.

To say training was hard is an understatement! OH MY GOSH!!!! If being a flight attendant were about passing out peanuts and drinks, they would have you pick up your peanuts and drinks in the jetway! The word flight attendant comes with a GREAT responsibility and that's another blog.

Until next week.......stay safe in your travels.

Please Pay Attention

As I'm sitting here getting prepared to start my "Flight Attendant Friday" blog, US Airways #1549 headed to Charlotte, NC has crashed in the Hudson River. I'm very calm as I sit here and watch this breaking news. You ask "how can I be calm", because as flight attendants we are trained to remain calm and take control of the situation. At this time it appears all 148 passengers have been accounted for. Praise God! This brings me to a very important statement. Girls, when you are flying please, please, do me a favor......please pay attention to the briefing it could save your life!

What a wonderful week!

I've had the most wonderful week! My sister has been visiting from Mississippi and to say we've had a "blast" would be an understatement. We have literally been on the go since I got in from my trip on Sunday afternoon and I'm pooped. She's leaving in the morning! After much pleading for her to stay, she insists she must get on with HER life. WHATEVER!!!!

Anyhoo, my momma turned 77 on Sunday and we celebrated her birthday at the Cookie Basket on Tuesday and looky who showed up.....those sweet daughters and two of the three grands!!!

Pop even suprised us and showed up too. He just can't stand the thought of me seeing those baby girls and baby boys without him. Isn't this the cutest picture of "baby Ridge". Hard to believe he will be 5 months old next week.

Today mom, Susie and I went to Conway to get my haircut and look at this adorable trench coat I found at Target. I have been wanting one for over a year now. I even found myself looking at the beachwear today and it's January. Hey a girl can dream can't she!

Last night mom and Susie were over and we were watching American Idol. Something was said about David Cook (ya know he is my all time favorite Idol) and I mentioned that I would like to have his CD. My hero (sitting on the couch with his loungy pants on) says, "do you want me to run to Walmart and get it for you". Me being the sweetheart that I am (ha) says, "absolutely not, but you can get it for me tomorrow if you want". Long story long, this afternoon when I get in from Conway my hero is already home. I come in the door and start rattling off about what kind of day it has been and how much fun we had had. I'm showing him what all I bought, went into the bathroom to potty (I know too much information) and say to him. "Hey, where's my David Cook CD" and he replys, "honey, I've been a little busy today". He goes into the den, sits down and I'm stirring around in the kitchen and notice he's been to Walmart for a paper run (paper towels, paper plates, toilet tissue, etc and I say, "looks like you went to Walmart today, so where's my David Cook CD" and he replys "you went shopping today, why didn't you pick it up". I'm thinking boy he's being grouchy (he's NEVER grouchy), so I walk over to him and start laughing and saying, "but you always spoil me and I thought YOU would pick it up". Then he mumbles something and once again I think, this is weird he's really acting strange, he must of had a bad day. So I walk over to my computer bend over to plug it in, stand up and SCREAM!!!

Yup, there it was in all it's glory!!! MY DAVID COOK CD!!!!! AAAAAAH!! MY HERO!!!

Looky who's getting to sleep in tonight. He's sooooo happy, I can hear him purring all the way over here. Ya'll don't leave your babies out in the cold for the next few nights. They need a nice warm place to sleep too!

Well, kiddos I'm heading off to bed. My sister is leaving early in the morning.......looks like I might get a couple of days of rest! No offense sissy, it's been a blast!

Oh, by the way. If Kelley from Arkansas who commented on my blog yesterday reads this. I have been trying to comment on your blog, but looks like your comments are blocked. Kelley if you are reading this post email me. My email address is on my profile page.

Also, I want to thank all you girlies who replied about being interested in reading about my job. I'm really excited about it and will get a post started hopefully on Friday.

Nighty night everyone! Sweet dreams!

Wolf Moon and a question

Has anyone noticed the full moon the last few nights? OH MY WORD!!!!! It has been absolutely amazing. I picked up a three day trip which started on Friday morning, so as I backed out of my driveway at 5:00 a.m. (ouch) and I noticed this HUGE, BRIGHT moon......oh my goodness, it was stunning. It stayed right with me and guided me all the way to the airport. I was listening to the radio and the DJ's were talking about it as well. They were saying January moons are always the fullest and brightest of any other time of the year and they are called Wolf Moons. So when I got to the airport I googled up Wolf Moons and this is what I found out:

Amid the cold and deep snows of midwinter, the wolf packs howled hungrily outside Indian villages. Thus, the name for the January full moon. Sometimes it was referred to as the old moon, or the moon after yule.

Ok, I know I made your day with this tidbit of useless information. Can you tell I'm blog worthy dead! HA!!!

By the way, I'm needing some feedback. I believe I've mentioned this before.....but I'll mention it again in case you missed it. When I started my blog it was to keep a journal of my travels and I have really strayed from the subject. Sooooooo, I was thinking I might take one day a week and blog about my job......my responsibilities, my overnights, some of the strange things that have happened to me at 37,000 feet, the celebrities I've met, so on and so forth. Here's what I need from you guys. Do you think you would be interested in knowing about my job. I mean people are intrigued about flight attendants (there's nothing really to be intrigued about especially when I have rubber gloves on and am cleaning pee up out of the floor or vomit off the rim of the commode), but I was intrigued before I started and it is a fun and interesting job.

So what do you think, anyone interested?
