Flight Attendant Friday

I LUV our "red belly money makers". That's what we call our Luv jets. I wanted to share a few pictures of our "specialty" planes this week. Southwest only flies Boeing 737's. We have over 500 planes in our fleet. We have 25, 737-500's which seat 122 passengers. The rest of our fleet are 737-300's and 737-700's, which both seat 137 passengers. The Federal Aviation Administration requires one flight attendant for every fifty passengers.

Most of our planes are painted canyon blue, red and orange. You will notice on the wings we have winglets. Winglets are 8 ft. tall and have been installed to help save fuel.

California One
Shamu (We have three Shamu's)

New Mexico One

Nevada One

Lone Star One

Arizona One

Maryland One

Our NBA plane

Illinois One

And our latest - Sports Illustrated "Swimsuit" plane

Only at Southwest Airlines, where we are a little zany would you find an airplane with a display of a Sports Illustrated model wearing a bikini.

I hoped you enjoyed my quick post tonight. It's been a crazy week and I have a three day trip starting in the morning, with a 4:00 a.m. wake up call.

Until next week......stay safe in your travels.

Very cool....you are always such a provider of fun and good info! I've been in a SHAMU SW Jet but didn't know about some of the other cool ones. My goal is now to fly on the Lone Star Texas plane. Do you know which route it goes or do they change it up?

Hi Becky,

Those planes are so cool looking! In my business I have worked with all the airlines and I personally think that the other airlines could take some lessons from Southwest. Oh and my daughter just flew on southwest from Indy to Denver the other day and she helped out when a passenger got sick(she's an emt) and they gave her and her boyfriend free drinks the whole way. She said everyone was so nice and appreciated her help. The guy was okay who was sick, just very dehydrated. Happy travels!
