Before and After back porch

We've been in our house now for about seventeen years and for seventeen years our screened in back porch has been an eye sore.

It's long and skinny and basically, pretty gross.

I decided this spring, I had, had enough. No more ugly back porch.

So I go to Walmart and buy some spray paint (ya gotta luv spray paint). Anywho, I bought the above table and four chairs from a neighbor about 20 years ago and paid $20. We have gotten our money out of it.......believe me. When I bought it, it was black. Since then it has been creme, dark green, red and now lime green (well, not really lime, just a soft green).

I painted all the wooden lawn furniture white. Alvin and the girls bought me the two chairs with hearts and our porch swing that matches for Mother's Day probably 20 plus years ago.

I am just tickled pink how the porch turn out, so what do you think? Pretty, huh?

This is the view when you walk from the back yard into the back porch.

Opposite end.

I bought this chest from Lucky's for $40 dollars a few months ago and painted it black.

I'm not really happy with the things on the shelf, but am still looking. Any suggestions?

And my favorite part of all. The porch swing. My hero and I have swung many a hour in this porch swing. Isn't the cushion darling........TJ Maxx special!

I luv the way the chairs turned out and the cute black and white pillows........well, another bargain, Target $4.50 ea. What a deal!!

I'm still not quite finished yet. I want a floor lamp and a rug to bring it all together. However, it's sooooooo much better than it was and I LUV IT!!!!

I hope you enjoyed my little project. Do you have any summer projects going on? I would LUV to see them.

Hi Becky, Your porch looks so welcoming now. That must be a great place to unwind at the end of the day. For your shelf, what about a jar of brightly colored marbles and an old Chinese checker board; vintage games of any kind???

I love your porch! It looks like such a place to retreat to after a long day or a place to come and drink morning coffee. I like Mildred's idea about the games.

Becky,
Oh be still my back porch lovin' heart!!! I LOVE IT!!

You did such a GREAT job. That furniture is just beautiful!!!!!

Have you thought about trying an ivy plant in a black and white pot for your shelf? The black and white would tie in with your pillows, and I love plants on a back porch, and ivy's are oh so easy. Just a thought...

Have a Blessed Wednesday,
Dawn

Hello, I would mix the ivy in amongst the candlesticks and then remove the container in the middle of shelf. On the left side maybe a burlap covered bottle or a bottle not as tall as the one you have and wrap it in jute for a summer time feel. Then set a starfish resting on the right side of the bottle and leave the middle of the shelf empty..a space for the eye to "rest".

I love this room...I could spend hours here!

Hugs,
Natalie

Hi Becky

It's been awhile, but I'm finally back to blogging. Gosh, you've been busy! Your photos from Gulfshore were great and so were the ones of your day of boating. I love what you've done with your back porch! Love it all!

You've done wonders to your porch with all your cute little touches. I can imagine that's a nice place to sit when it's getting late in the day or at the beginning of th day with a cup of coffee. VERY NICE!

OH MY GOSH...it looks awesome! What a fun change...and I bet you love being out there now. I think the porch swing is the coolest thing a couple can have. It's such a nice place to just sit and snuggle and chat. A rug will be the crowning touch. GREAT JOB!

Becky,

I really love that magazine. In my area along highway 64 from Russellville to probably Morrilton there is a huge yard sale/flea market deal. People set up booths all along the road. My dad has picked up some antique fishing lures from there. Well that explains the bicycle. My father in law has an office right on that road. People are using his lot to put their "treasures" for sale. He got this bike for MK. It looks like a boy's bike, but she says it's just for big girls like her. Priceless. She is getting tall. I can't believe it. No one believes me when I tell them she just turned 3.

Wow! Your porch looks amazing! Love those chair cushions - and what bargains!

I think you and I should plan a time to swing on that porch and chat-- and I'll bring the Cheerwine Floats!
