This weeks trip

I started my three day trip this week on Sunday morning. Our first leg from Dallas was to Albuquerque and continued on to Salt Lake City. A group of ladies boarded the plane and I could tell they were going somewhere fun. As one of the ladies passed me she whispered, "it's the lady in the black sweaters 50th birthday". Well, in that case let's get the party started........
This is Mary and her bunko buddies for the past 15 years were taking her snow sking in Utah. They sat in the back of the airplane and since we only had 50 something passengers on the flight I had time to visit with them. I'm not sure how much you guys know about Southwest Airlines, but it makes me proud to work for them.......we have a blast on board. They not only allow us, but encourage us to be ourselves. So during the flight one of my co-workers and I made Mary a "Diva" crown out of packs of peanuts and our heart shaped stir sticks and I sang Happy Birthday to her and we presented her with a bottle of champagne. Mary was tickled pink and said she had never had so much fun on a flight!

Here are a couple of pictures I took on our decent into Utah yesterday. The mountains are soooooo beautiful this time of the year. When you click on the pictures to enlarge it looks as if you could reach out and touch the mountain tops.

The picture below was taken this afternoon in the Sacramento airport. I have been wanting to take a picture of this luggage for almost five years now.......well today was the day. One of my co-workers wanted to take the picture at this angle to look as if I were holding the luggage up. I thought it turned out really cute.

I'm in California today and it's sunny and in the 80's, quite different from Arkansas. When our hotel shuttle pulled into the driveway this afternoon these little beauties were there to greet us. Poppies are one of my favorite flowers........there were orange, yellow and red ones.

I'll be making my way back to Arkansas tomorrow afternoon by way of Sacramento, Las Vegas, Austin, Dallas and finally jumping on my commute home to Little Rock to see my hero.

Oh, any my husband says you need to start some of the fun games back again, like passing a roll of toilet paper to the back of the plain and the winning side gets to get off the plane first. He misses those. lol

That's just too much fun!!!! Seriously, it must not even seem like work sometimes! Those mountains are just gorgeous. And then to get to go on to sunny California! Wow...you really do have a wonderful job!!

Steve told me he's been on a flight before where everyone was singing YMCA and doing the wave, etc. I must get on all the boring flights! haha

I don't know how I "found" your blog, but I'm glad I did. Next time I fly, I want to be on your flight, although I fly out of Memphis mostly (and not real often) so there's no SW :(.

I LOVE Southwest Airlines...I hope I get on one of your flights sometime! They ARE fun and you sound like you are one of the best employees they have.

That luggage picture is fun! And those pictures remind me of how GREAT the Utah snow is....best is the country for skiing..it's SO powdery.

I imagine you're a BLAST to be on board with!! It's passengers like me (in a Xanax daze - fearing the plane will fall out of the sky) that brings the mood down in flight. Ha!

I miss California at this time of year. We used to lay out on Christmas break!!

That sounds like a fun flight. I just met a pilot from Southwest yesterday. I have his son in preschool and he came and talked to our class about being a pilot. He even brought the kids fun treats.

Hey Becky,

Thanks for your comments. I thought my dad looked pretty cute in his apron, too. Tonight when I visited him and he was much better. There were fewer family members there. I didn't stay the whole time so that my mom could visit with him. He is so sweet. He still has a great personality.

I have always enjoyed flying Southwest, but I just wish I could be on a flight with you sometime! I am sure that you helped make Mary's birthday one that she will never forget. I love the "Diva" crown!

The pictures of the snow-topped mountains turned out awesome!

Thanks so much for letting us travel with you!

I'm so glad you're able to have some fun even while you work. I think I would have loved doing what you do. How long have you been a flight attendant?

Hugs!
Kat

(I haven't been by in a few days so I've enjoyed catching up with you. Gosh I'm so sorry about all the ice you've had to deal with! No fun. I remember how scary ice was when we lived in Nashville.)
