One of my favorite movies

Do you find it funny that in this busy time of our lives a certain song or smell can take you back to a certain time in your life. Alvin and I were eating dinner in the den tonight and we had noooo idea what was coming on the channel we were watching. Well, as soon as I heard the music I said " oh my goodness, it's The Wizard of Oz". It immediately took me back to a more innocent time when I was a little of girl. I remember The Wizard of Oz always came on in February on Sunday night. It has been a long time favorite of mine along with Gone With The Wind.

Oh how I love Glinda the good witch of the north. One of my favorite parts of the movie is when Dorothy opens the door after landing in munchkinland and everything is in color. WOW!!! It still gives me goosebumps!

The wicked witch always scared me sooooo much, especially when those darn monkeys started flying. YIKES!!!!! And those apple trees in the forest, oh yeah, they scared me too!!!

And another favortie part is when she is clicking her red ruby slippers and saying "there's no place like home, there's no place like home". There is no statement more truthful.
What was your favorite childhood movie?

I also LOVE The WIzard of Oz!! It is so funny, though, that for the longest time when I was a child, I did not realize that the Wizard, the Tin Man, and the scarecrow were the same people as the farmhands. How dumb was that? I can remember being so afraid of those flying monkeys, too! You gotta love ToTo riding on the bike, though!

Have a great week!

Hmmmm... of course I loved all the old Disney movies like Bambi and 101 Dalmations. And I also loved Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! I never got to watch The Wizard of Oz because it always came on Sunday nights when I was at church! :(

I don't know that I have a favorite childhood movie, but I do remember being scared to DEATH watching the "Wizard of Oz". I used to hide behind the chair when the witch or the monkeys came on the screen.

For most of my life I thought that they invented color when making the movie! (Now, Mimi, that's worse than you!)

We did have the "Wizard of Oz" album or was it an 8-track? Anyway, I used to know all the words to the songs by heart.

Great post - it took me back.

Oh, I LOVED the Wizard of Oz. All of the things you mentioned I loved and was scared of. Those monkeys still creep me out! I think my all time favorite was/is The Sound of Music. It always came on the same time of year (I can't remember the actual season now). It's on more often now, and if I or my sister catch it, we always call each other so we can both see it.

I loved seeing Cortney, Reid, and of course "Chico" tonight. I also enjoyed meeting Casey. You sure have some beautiful daughters! I think you guys are the sweetest! I am so glad I ran into you at Chik-fil-a. Ha! I kicked myself when I left tonight because I had my camera and that would have made a great post! I didn't even remember I had it when I was talking to them. :)

Hi Becky! I found your blog through Leigh Ann!

The Wizard of Oz is one of my all time favorite movies! It brings back special memories for me, too. My mom and I always watched it and what made it even more special was that we would always pop popcorn -the old fashioned way-on the stove- before it came on. It was just a great "Mom and Me" time. Now, thanks to DVDs, I am experiencing the same "Mom and Me" time with my own 3 year old daughter. She loves the movie, too!

Thanks for such a great post!

I love the movie too. When I bought my first little dog, I wanted a little Cairn Terrier like the one in the movie, I ended up breeding them for a few years. They are fun little dogs.

I was fascinated by tornado's back then, I wasn't quite sure what it was and I was pretty sure we didn't have them in the south. : )
