Alvin and I were off this past week. We decided since we had already spent a week at the beach this year we would stay close to home and take a couple of day trips. Last Sunday we spent the afternoon at the lake. Since the lake is still above flood stage, I have been taking pictures of the island where we usually hang out. Here is the island last Sunday (emerging slowly):
Tuesday we decided to drive to Branson for a couple of days. We always stop in Mountain View at Woods Pharmacy to get an extra thick chocolate malt with whipped cream and a cherry. Who cares that it is 10:30 in the morning.
We arrived in Branson around 12:30, checked into the hotel and headed straight to..........
The new Branson Landing. If you haven't been it is a must. It has a
huge outdoor mall, including Bass Pro Shop (hubbies love this), over 100 specialty shops, restaurants galore, concerts on the town square and a spectacular 7.5 million water fountain, synchronized to lights, sound and music on the waterfront. WOW!!
We had lunch on the water at Joe's. YUMMO!!!
On the way home from Branson we were both having grandson withdrawals, so it's off to Little Rock to visit the boys and Cortney (Ryan was working). After visiting with our sweet babies, we headed downtown to the River Market and had dinner at the Flying Fish.
Thursday was just your typical mow the lawn, weed the flower beds and try to stay cool.
Friday, we headed over to Memphis to eat at the world famous "Rendezvous." The "Rendezvous" has been in business since 1948 and is famous for it's Memphis-style dry rub ribs.
It's Saturday and you guessed it, back to the lake. Boy was it a hot one and the humidity was over the top. So we where in the water "neck deep" most of the time. As you can see the water is falling and our little island is slowly, but surely re-emerging.

Looks like you guys have been having a nice time on your vacations. Sometimes there is nothing better than just spending quality time together, no matter where you are.
I was at Branson last Friday! I love the shopping there.
You did a great job with your pictures!!
You are so lucky to live so close to all those fun things to do!! Sounds like a great week to me! :)
Wish we could have been at the lake with you guys! I can't believe it's still that high.
I love your new look! Very cheerful -- course I was a big fan of the flip flops, too.
You guys packed a lot into your week off! That chocolate malt looks yummy and I am so jealous that you went to Rendezvous! Walt and I love Memphis-style dry rub ribs!
Glad you had such fun! Looks like you'll have your island back before too much longer.

I'm embarrassed to say we have NEVER been to Branson. Isn't that crazy?! We HAVE been to Rendezvous, though and it is wonderful. Joe's is also a favorite of ours. We go to the one in Destin. I'm glad you are getting your island back! :)
