Random Thoughts
A nasty ole bug has jumped on me and I FEEL AWFUL!!!! My nose is runny (or one side is, while the other side is stopped up), I'm sneezing, my ears both feel like someone is taking an icepick and stabbing my eardrums. OUCH!!! And, my eyes are watery. I went to the Dr. this afternoon and he gave me a double dose of shots. Again, OUCH!!! A steroid shot in my left hip and a shot of rocefrin in the right hip, a prescription of Levaquin, plus some ear drops for my earache! What a day I've had. I have literally layed around all day feeling like a dadgum bum.
Anybody watch Dancing with the Stars tonight? There he was, Mr. Trey Hill who was on my flight last week. Remember him, he's Jessica Simpsons' lead guitarist. And lastly as Alvin was flipping through channels tonight this is what was on........
.....are you kidding me!!!! This is September 30th folks, not Christmas Eve! Holy smoke!!
Excuse me, I'm having a blond moment.....
Ok, be truthful. How many of you have looked at my blog today and realized I was having a blond moment and you didn't have the nerve to tell me. What friends I have! LOL

Just Me and My Baby
I got back into Dallas this afternoon around 2:30 and who was waiting from mommy, but baby girl. I was sooooo excited to see her! Casey had flown in this morning to start a 4 day block of P.M. reserve. She didn't get used so she was waited for me in the lounge (my commute for Little Rock didn't leave until 5:20) and we were able to visit for a couple of hours. Oh how I miss that little girl of mine. She used to live only an hour and a half from us. Now she lives in NW Arkansas and I only get to see her every couple of months. I love you baby girl!!!!
I'm back home for five days! YEA!!!!! I'm going to try and rest and relax for a couple of days. Cortney's post baby shower is Thursday night and Reid's kindergarten class is having a grandparents luncheon on Friday. I think I may start cleaning out a couple of closets this week (yuck). I really need to have a yard sale. We'll see. Oh by the way, I made it home with the candlesticks I purchased in LA and they look great on my new cabinet! I'm sure glad after dragging them around for three days!! HA!!

"BIG" glasses
Amy, Becky and Wendy
When you're in California you wanna be sure and wear your "BIG" glasses like everyone else. So here we are with our "BIG" ones on! I'm in San Jose, California tonight. San Jose is one of my favorite overnights. It's absolutely beautiful here. Flying in off to the left of the plane is the Pacific ocean and on the right side of the plane is the mountains. And the mountains are sooooo green, unlike many of the mountain ranges in CA. We got in around 2:30 pacific time. I worked out for about 40 minutes and went out by the pool for an hour.
Our lobby time this morning was 8:30 pacific and that is really late for an A.M. I actually woke up an hour before my alarm. That is always so nice! Today we started in LA, since then I have been to Phoenix, Orange County and San Jose. Tomorrow should be a pretty easy day. Las Vegas, San Antonio and Dallas.
I had the cutest little four year old boy onboard today. We were boarding, I was at mid-cabin and this little cutie pie walked by and I said "hey there handsome" and he looks up at me and says "hi, I'm a boy". I cracked up. Kids say the funniest things. My body is saying, "it's time to go to bed". Nighty, Night!

LA's fine, sun shines most the time.....
I started a three day trip today, with my overnights in LA (tonight) and San Jose (tomorrow) night. I checked in this morning at 5:15. Since that time I have been to St. Louis, Omaha, Las Vegas (Lost wages as we call it) and finally LA. We have a 21 hour overnight. Nothing to exciting in the air today. Everyone was pretty quit, except for group of Iowa State Fans who we were taking to Las Vegas and boy were they having a good time in the back of the plane. Oh, and Trey Hill (lead guitarist) for Jessica Simpson was on my flight from Las Vegas to LA. Quit a nice guy! Here's his pic....
As soon as we checked into the hotel, Amy (one of my crewmembers) and I took off to T.J. Maxx, Trader Joe's and finally.....In N Out Burger. YUMMY!!
I found these darling candlesticks at T.J. Maxx and I think they will go perfect with my new $50 cabinet that I bought last week. What was I thinking buying these, now I have to lug them around for two more days. Oh well, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do! HA!! Well guys it's 8:00 p.m. central time, 6:00 Pacific and the sun is still high in the sky, however, this chick is going to close the curtains, turn out the lights and get some zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's!
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! GO HOGS!!!

Candy Corn and Cade! YUMMY!!!
Who loves Candy Corn? I bought our first package today and have already been in it way too much!!! I always mix it with peanuts and M&M's. However today I mixed it with cashews!! YUMMY! It's a must if you've never tried it!
Cade (our middle grandson) spent the night with Pop and Mimi last night. Oh, that little fella is a full blown mess. He is non-stop from the word go. We all get so tickled at Cade. He is two and a half and has his own langauge. Basically, he speaks "Cade". We get so tickled trying to figure out what he is saying.....for instance:
blankie is frankie
Jones is Tones (you know, Indiana Jones)
milk is melk
You get the picture. I had to call Cortney this morning and let Cade tell her what he wanted, because I couldn't figure it out and he will keep repeating it until someone figures it out.
Now cade LOVES to dress up like "Tones" and "Batman". You never see him that he doesn't have either his "Tones" hat on or his "Batman" mask. Well I thought you guys might get a kick out the pictures I took of him on the drive back to mommy today! Alvin and I obviously weren't the only ones worn out from so much fun! So YUMMY!!!! (Sorry I should have loaded the pictures first)

Where Were You?
It's been seven years today and I'll never ever forget 9/11. It will be forever be engraved into my heart. No, I wasn't flying that day. Actually I wasn't a flight attendant at the time. But my daughter, Casey was. And Casey was in the air during the time of the attacks.
I was getting ready for work while watching Good Morning America. I will never forget the very minute that Diane Sawyer and I believe Charlie, stop and say, something like "we are getting reports that an airplane has hit one of the Twin Towers". You know at that time, we or should I say, "I" thought like probably everyone else, that it was a small plane or something. But minutes later when the second plane hits and the plane was actually shown hitting the tower. The reporters start saying, "it looks as if America is under attack". Ya'll I will never forget the numbness I felt you talk about dropping to your knees and praying. I knew my Casey had left BWI (Baltimore Washington International) heading to Little Rock. She had called the night before, sick and wanting me to make her a Doctor's appointment for Tuesday morning. Alvin had driven to Little Rock to pick Casey up. At this point we had not talked to her that morning.
Long story short, Casey's plane came in and as Alvin and Casey are coming out of the airport, the port authorities were arriving to close the airport. You talk about a relief, when Alvin called and she he had our baby with him! Alvin brought Casey by my office when they got home and I will never forget just grabbing her and hugging her. "I said Casey, please tell me you'll never fly again" (I know sounds dumb). She looks at me and says "mom this is my career, whenever God is ready for me, I'll be ready". I looked at her with tears in my eyes and said "you are exactly right".
One of the most asked questions I get on the plane from passengers is....are you afraid of another 9/11. The answer is "not at all". And like Casey. Whenever God is ready for me, I too will be ready! Let's all take a moment today to remember those who lost loved ones and for our service men and women who put their lives on the line everyday so that we can live in this amazing country! God Bless the USA!

My Lucky Day
I have been wanting to redecorate our laundry room/morning room. However, I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do with this room. The washer and dryer are behind bi-fold doors, so if you didn't know better you wouldn't know they were there.
I'm thinking I might put my grandma's chair that I had recovered in the room with this cabinet I bought today. One of my mom's friends told her about a guy who owns a store (Luckys) about 15 miles from our home town. I'm really not sure what kind of store it is. I thought it was a flea market, but when we arrived I found out all the items in the store were brand new. Seems he buys trailer trucks full of various items for cheap and sells them for cheap. His items come from Dillards, Kolhs, Penneys and he purchased a truck from Macy's today, but wasn't sure what day the truck would be in.
Anyhow, like I said I had been looking for a cabinet of some sort for a couple of months. When mom and I walked in, I saw this cabinet (sorry the picture didn't turn out very good)for $50 smackaroos and I had to have it. WHAT A DEAL!!! It had a little scratch on the front corner, nothing a little black marker wouldn't take care of.

Lucy Buffett's L.A.( Lower Alabama) Caviar
When Alvin and I go to Gulf Shores we love to eat at LuLu's. LuLu's is owned by Lucy Buffet who is Jimmy Buffett's sister. I cooked Poppy Seed Chicken last night and tried Lucy's recipe for the first time. It was soooooo easy to fix and so yummy! I altered the recipe. Alvin does not like peppers of any kind so I just used green bell peppers to add flavor and we ate this as a salad not as an appetizer with chips or crackers. Thought you guys might like the recipe.

3/4 c. balsamic vinegar
1/2 c. extra virgin olive oil
1/4 c. sugar

A cup of java and back on the road again
As I sit here drinking my yummy cup of java this morning, I'm wishing this were the view from my window. Instead.....
All my bags are packed I'm ready to go, the taxi's waiting, he's blowing his horn.....already I'm so lonesome....WAIT!! STOP!!!! No way! That is totally NOT how I feel. It's been 17 days since I was last on a plane and I am ansy to get in the air. I know it sounds crazy to those who don't stewardess (yes, I always refer to myself as a stewardess, because I think it's funny) for a living. It's kind of a nutty job. I can't wait to go (of course, I get a little sad when I leave, but once I get on the road I'm fine) but by the end of my trip I can't wait to get home!
I will be working a three day trip and I'm on reserve, which means scheduling is in charge. I will fly to Dallas this evening, spend the night and sometime during the evening or possibly into the night scheduling will call and give me an assignment. Hopefully it will be somewhere the upcoming hurricanes aren't!
Oh, and by the way. I've noticed my blog has been getting lots of hits. I would love for you to stop by, leave a comment and let me know who you are and where you're from. Blessings everyone!

"Quick, get me a spoon!"
I could just eat the cheeks right off thoses grandbabies of ours...I decided a couple of days ago that a teaspoon just wouldn't work anymore, it's going to take a tablespoon!
Baby Ridge was two weeks old yesterday and he is the sweetest thing! Of course Reid and Cade are the best brothers in the entire universe and can't keep their hands off him. Cade says, "I hold it", followed by, "take it". It is so funny! Reid always wants to know if he can hold Ridge for 100 minutes!
Here are a few pics from the last couple of weeks. So grab a spoon and enjoy!

Fall is in the air & so are the bats! EEK!
Ready or not fall is on it's way. HOORAY!!! Now let's get this straight, I LOVE summer! I have never been a fan of fall because it's Alvin's busy season. When you are in the rice industry, it's seven days a week of work, work, work. That's right, our running around completely comes to a halt during the months of September, October and runs into November. YUK!!! You would think after thirty-six years of this I would get used to it. NO WAY!!!! I love being with my main squeeze and harvest always get in the way of being with my bestest buddy. I'll just stay busy with our grandbabes and stay in the sky more often.
So with that said.....this is what I did yesterday. I know it may be a little early but, I was in the mood for a change. I changed my wreaths from summer to fall. I haven't got the pumpkins, pansies and mums out (still a little early for that), but here is a preview of my wreaths.
My front door wreath...
Spring/Summer
My new fall wreath ( I love the gerber daisies)
Carport door......Spring/Summer
Fall wreath
Gate....Spring/Summer
Gate....Fall
This morning I hear a commotion, run to the back door, open it and Alvin yells, "get back Bec". Well I slam the door, look out the window and I see Alvin with the fish net swatting at something. Thinking this might be blog worthy, I run get the camera and this is what I see........
My hero.....
But wait a minute....is my hero holding his shirt collar. Honey, it's a bat not a vampire!
Somehow, two bats had gotten on our screened in porch. TWO BATS PEOPLE!!!!!! EEK!!!
I wish I had videoed Alvin. Bless his heart he was cracking me up, swatting and ducking, swatting and ducking. Oh, what a sight! Being the hero that he is, he captured them both. Thanks Alvin for the early morning entertainment.
After Alvin left, I went out on the back porch to investigate. I noticed something lying on the floor and I'm like, "what in the world"? Well, I'm as blind as a bat (no pun intended) so I go in the house, get my glasses, go out and what in the world, but a half eaten bat. YUCKO! BOSCO!!!! Where are you my sweet kitty! Yup, looks like my "fierce hunter" has been up to his old tricks! We are still wondering how the bats got on the SCREENED back porch. We do have a kitty door, but how in the world. I guess we'll never know, at least I hope not! YIKES!!
