Flight Attendant Friday

Hi everyone! As I start my "Flight Attendant Friday" there are a couple things I want you guys to know:

1. If you ever want to ask me a question about my job, please feel free.

2. I am from the south and I speak and write like I'm from the south. I know how to speak correctly, but I like the humor in the way us southerns can throw things out there. So occasionally I'll be speaking southern as I'm telling stories.

3. I don't want you guys to EVER think I am bragging about my job. Because I love it so.....it may appear that I am bragging. I do brag about my company, it's a WONDERFUL company and I am BLESSED to be able to have such a wonderful job!

This afternoon I was thinking about how to start and I think I'll just start at the beginning. Now just so you know, I'm a hopper........yes, I hop from one subject to another so please bear with me. I maybe talking about safety one week and hop on over to celebrities the next week.

I turned 50, became a Mimi and was accepted to flight attendant training all in 2003. What's so strange about the flight attendant training part is that I was TERRIFIED to fly!! I MEAN TERRIFIED!!! You don't believe me do you? When I was accepted I wasn't even sure I could do it. I had flown several times before I went off to training but ONLY under DURESS!!!! Poor Alvin, bless his heart, when we would fly somewhere he would look out the window and try to get me to look out......NO WAY, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Everytime a bell would ding, I thought for sure we were going down! I know, I know.......pyscho girl here!

Off to training I go. Our training is three and a half weeks and held in Dallas. It's all paid for, except for dinner! We were also paid for training once we graduated.

To say training was hard is an understatement! OH MY GOSH!!!! If being a flight attendant were about passing out peanuts and drinks, they would have you pick up your peanuts and drinks in the jetway! The word flight attendant comes with a GREAT responsibility and that's another blog.

Until next week.......stay safe in your travels.

I would imagine that it requires so much more than we know. I can't wait to hear all about it!

I've always wanted to be a flight attendant. I love to travel, but I know what you do is hard hard work. Any chance, they'll take a 56 year old girl?

Hugs!
Kat
